Roppongi area

Roppongi has been changed drastically past 10 years. This area was THE place for us to go night clubbing besides NIshiazabu, in late 80's and early 90's. What do I remember? "J trip Bar", "Droopy drewers", "The bank", "Toolia"! where I saw LL COOL J live and closed its door a year later because of an accident caused by a fall of big lighting system from ceiling, hmmm i don't remember the names any more but surely i remember how they were. Hip hop was still underground. House music all night long, Big American Base people causing trouble against small Japanese policemen, HARDROCK CAFE! where we could eat and drink almost for nothing because of one friend who was working there! Long long time ago.

六本木はこの10年ですごく変わった。８０年代終わり９０年代始め西麻布を抜かしたらここが「ザ夜の遊び場」だった。何覚えてるかな？"J trip Bar", "Droopy drewers", "The bank", "トューリア"！LL COOL Jのライブを見た１年後に人身事故で閉まっちゃった所！もう名前は覚えてないけどそんな場所がどんなだったかはよーく覚えてる。ヒップホップがまだアンダーグラウンドでハウスミュージックオールナイトロングだった頃。でっかい米軍兵士達がちっちゃなおまわりさんと口論してた所。ハードロックカフェ！友達が働いてたからいつも千円でなんでも飲食できた所！いわゆる青春時代。あはは。

But now we have ROPPONGI MID-TOWN. We loved it. It's way beyond any of department stores or commercial district or shoppimg mall, whatever you call it, in Europe. 10 years ahead! Mid-Town! It's dangerous for us not to start buying things. It's a place where you have to go through all shops to visit SUNTORY Museum where we wanted to go but we couldn't reach! Super advanced commercial huge trap! and we enjoyed it very much! restaurants, bars, fashion stores, design stores especially because they are focusing on Japanese craft works and designs, museum! design gallery! nice garden! beauty salon for dogs, cooking school and nice smoker's room. everything.

でも今は六本木ミッドタウンがある。最高に楽しんだ。ヨーロッパにあるどんなデパートよりどんな商業施設よりショッピングモールより、どこよりもずーっと先の先を行っている。10年先を行っている。ミッドタウン。一度財布の紐を緩めると止めようが無くなっちゃう僕らにとってひじょーに危険な場所。サントリー美術館に行きたいのにその途中の店の連続で到達できなかった場所。超高度に仕組まれた商業目的の巨大な罠。楽しい！レストラン、バー、ファッションストア、和物、日本にこだわったデザインストア、美術館！デザインギャラリー！きれいな庭！犬用ビューティーサロン！料理学校！喫煙ルーム！全て。

During our visit to Mid-town, they were promoting Japanese traditional Kimono by exhibiting Kimono wear, organizing a lecture how to wear Kimono or style with modern items, offering special discount when visiting Mid-town in Kimono style. How cool is that?! I also saw quite many Kimono wearing people in Kyoto which i didn't experience 10 years ago. I also would love to have one.
僕らがミッドタウンに行った時、着物のイベントが行われている関係で着物姿の女性やカップル！を多く見かけた。話しを聞くとそのイベントでは着物を来てきた人たちにはミッドタウン内で割引サービスを提供したり、着付けやスタイリングのレクチャーを開催したりを通して着物のプロモーションをしているとの事だった。なんて素晴らしい！京都でも日常着として着物を来ている人に会ったし結構見た。それって10年前は無かったと思う。僕も着物でトラムに乗りたい。

But this one just freaked us out! Individual strawberry package! About 3 euro for one. OMG!
でもこの３８０円で売られてたイチゴの個包装には参った！すご！！

And we LOVED Toraya! a Japanese long history confectionery shop also in Roppongi Mid-town. Super nice. They have a shop in Paris as well.
和菓子のとらやは素晴らしかった。パリにもお店がある。

It was something like watching a series of Vintage Ferragamo shoes. It's ART.
とらやで和菓子を吟味するって言うのはビンテージなフェラガモの靴に見入る事に似てるんじゃないかって思った。アートだと思った。

This is what we bought for us. They also offer these kind of nice dishes and towels and other goods.
それでこれは買った。お菓子だけじゃなくてお皿も手ぬぐいもグッズも充実してた。まったくかわいい。

We enjoyed going around in a fashion store called RESTIR in Mid-town. I remember going around Berlin with its buyer Nicole something like 7 years ago? Actually through her I got to know Starstyling in Berlin. Thanks for that! First visit to this new location. Amazing high-end selection for both men and women, very Rick Owens, Galiano, Alexander Wang with lots of damaged jeans kind of direction, a shop for rich Japanese hip-star or somebody who don't have any taste but caring the names. The entrance was a good surprise!
ミッドタウン内にあるリステア。ここのバイヤーの（今も？）ニコルとベルリンを一緒に回ったのはかれこれ７年前ぐらい？そのニコルを通じてスタースタイリングの事を知ったのは今でも感謝。この新しいロケーションになってからの初訪問。男性女性合わせて驚愕のハイエンドなセレクション。とってもリックオーウェンス、ガリアーノ、アレキサンダーワンにダメージなジーンズの方向性。スーパーリッチな日本のヒップスター向けなのか、テイストは無いけど名前にこだわる金持ち向けなのか。エントランスがナイスなサプライズ。

We came back another day and enjoyed Japanese Glass -Stylish vessels, playful shapes - at SUNTORY Museum. The location itself was already must-see. We spent quite long time at Museum shop as well. ahaha.
別の日に再挑戦でサントリー美術館でやっている和ガラス - 粋なうつわ、遊びの形 - を楽しんだ。美術館自体がすごくよかった。ミュージアムショップでまたまた楽しんだ。あはは。
