I think America and Japan are very similar.
アメリカと日本はすごく似ていると思う。

I always wonder where it comes from. Does it come from "shopping is my hobby" kind of heavy consumption culture?
それってどこから来るのかっていつも思う。「買い物が趣味」な消費文化から来る物なのか？とも思うし、

or does it come from well made systems that make people follow?
管理しやすいようによく出来たシステムから来る物なのか？とも思うし、

or geographical reason that is easily isolated?
孤立しやすい地理的な理由から来るのかとも思うし、

or does it come from the fact that Japan and America has relatively short history if I count Japanese history from its drastic political and life style change at Meiji Restoration in 1868?
政治と生活様式が劇的に変わった明治維新から日本の歴史を数えるとアメリカも日本も歴史が短いことから来る物なのかとも思うし。

In a way, I felt very relaxed and comfortable in America. Very weird but it's really true once you are IN there.

日曜日はジーザス番組を沢山やってる訳で、

It's America anyway.
いずれにしてもアメリカだ。

I find things, happenings, people that are standing out and coming out of Japan are often very extreme in many ways.
日本から外へ出てくる「もの」や「出来事」や「人」はかなりの頻度で色んな意味で極端なケースが多い。

To be extreme is one way to stand out.
極端になる事は飛び抜ける一つの方法だ。

How extreme can you go could be the question.
How extreme can you goが問題だ。

Extremely huge? or ultra small detail?
極端に大きいのか極端に微細なのか？

Extremely colorful? or to be as transparent as possible?
極端にカラフルなのか？限りなく透明なのか？

Extremely noisy? or almost silence?
極端に騒々しいのかほとんど無音なのか？

One of the similarity i find is this extremeness because America is THE extreme country for me.
似ている部分の一つはこの極端さだ。僕にとってアメリカは「極端」な国だから。

I always think and wonder where this similarity come from.
僕はいつもこの似ている部分は何処から来るのか考える。

My father used to wear cowboy hat.
僕の父親は昔カウボーイハットをかぶっていた。
